Chapter 586 - 586
Chapter 586 - 586
The smoke and dust gradually dispersed, and the true body of the "Black Dragon" appeared before everyone.
The dragon's muscles were knotted and powerful, its wings fully spread.
Though it stood not far from them, it felt as though it could blot out the sky itself.
Gulp.
Ultear swallowed nervously and instinctively took a few steps back, but after only two steps, she stopped, because Marco was still behind her, and he too was an incredibly dangerous existence.
'We really should never have come to Tenrou Island…'
Ultear regretted it over and over in her heart.
Although she possessed the Lost Magic, Arc of Time, that power could not let her peer into the future, nor could it help her avoid danger.
Buzz!
Ultear could not see the future, but someone could.
A glint flashed through Marco's eyes as he swiftly began peering into the timelines.
ROAR!
After landing on the ground, the "Black Dragon" made no unnecessary movements.
It swept its gaze over the crowd once, then moved immediately.
Buzz!
Its body was enormous, but it moved with unbelievable agility, absurdly fast, so fast that it gave no one time to react.
Its target was obvious: Laxus, who stood closest.
In order to block Grimoire Heart's attempt to flee, Laxus had indeed positioned himself nearest to the "Black Dragon."
But the reason the "Black Dragon" chose Laxus was not because he was closest.
It was because of the familiar scent on him, the scent of a Dragon Slayer Mage.
Boom!
The "Black Dragon's" body slammed into a golden shield, and its momentum was forcibly halted.
The shield itself, however, was blasted flying.
Marco leapt upward and extended his right hand.
The golden shield spun once in the air and automatically returned to his grasp. It was one of the twelve weapons of the Libra Gold Cloth.
"Hah!"
Laxus sucked in a sharp breath.
He had not reacted at all!
Looking at the "Black Dragon" before him, Laxus finally understood why everyone in Fairy Tail had reacted the way they did before.
This monster was on a completely different level from them!
Marco, who had intercepted that blow, was equally shocked.
If he had not peered into the future timeline in advance and thrown out the golden shield in an emergency, Laxus really would not have been able to block that attack.
This "Black Dragon" truly lived up to its reputation. Gildarts' information had not been exaggerated in the slightest.
And the "Black Dragon," having had its strike blocked, was just as surprised.
It had been many years since anyone capable of trading blows with it had appeared.
Yet that little brat had managed to stop its attack, and with a very strange kind of power at that.
"Interesting."
Marco and Laxus spoke at the same time.
"?"
Marco turned toward Laxus, whose battle spirit was surging fiercely, and a question mark practically appeared above his head.
You were almost one-shotted, so why are you getting this fired up?
Even the "Black Dragon" glanced at Laxus again, ridicule in its eyes.
It was obvious that this "Black Dragon" could understand what they were saying.
Buzz!
Marco paid Laxus no further attention.
He clenched his fist, and his aura erupted.
Though he wore the Aries Gold Cloth, twelve golden weapons floated around him: swords, spears, tonfa, nunchaku, three-section staffs, and round shields, two of each, all wrapped in magic power.
Trying to wield all twelve weapons of the Libra Gold Cloth with a Cosmo that had only just entered the Sixth Sense was clearly a fool's dream.
So Marco chose to wield those weapons with magic power instead, while using Cosmo itself for battle, allowing him to bring out the power of the Aries Gold Cloth.
This "Black Dragon" was simply too powerful, so Marco conservatively chose the Aries Gold Cloth first, because its Teleportation and Crystal Wall were both extremely practical and powerful.
Against an opponent like this, the most important thing was first being able to maneuver and probe just how strong the "Black Dragon" really was.
"Go!" Marco shouted, and two streaks of golden light shot out instantly.
Although he had chosen the defense-oriented and all-purpose Aries Gold Cloth, that did not mean he had given up on attacking.
He directly used the golden swords the same way one would use the Royal Demon Rose, controlling them like flying blades and sending two golden longswords hurtling out.
Strictly speaking, this technique would be better used while wearing the Leo Gold Cloth, since Aiolia had mastered sword control.
The two golden longswords were brimming with magic power.
The amount of magic Marco poured into them vastly surpassed what Gray had used, making the swords even stronger than when Gray had wielded them just now.
They did not look as exaggerated, but that only proved Marco's control was far superior.
Marco had concentrated all of their power into the golden swords themselves, rather than wasting it on flashy visual effects.
Though the two golden swords were unbelievably fast, the "Black Dragon" was no slower.
It launched itself into the air in an instant and raised both foreclaws to swat at the two swords that were chasing after it.
BOOM!!!
A terrifying magical explosion erupted, lighting up the entire sky.
Within the blast, the "Black Dragon's" body rose into the air, wings flapping behind it, and it appeared not to have suffered any damage at all.
"Unscathed? I wouldn't say that."
Looking at the "Black Dragon" in the sky, Marco did not feel discouraged.
Because he could see that the "Black Dragon's" claws were trembling ever so slightly.
Blocking those two strikes had clearly not been as effortless as it had made it seem.
Of course, that alone was already terrifying enough. Marco had not held back in those two attacks at all.
He dared to say that even one of the Ten Wizard Saints would likely not have escaped unharmed from those two sword strikes.
Even Makarov might not have been able to block them.
Marco had already used an enormous amount of magic in those two attacks.
If not for his stellar magic power supplying him continuously, he would not have been able to sustain that level of consumption.
Trying to draw out the full power of those golden weapons was still too much of a strain.
At the very least, he would need the Seventh Sense.
"As expected of the legendary Black Dragon. If I try to defeat this thing with magic alone, it's probably almost impossible."
Marco could not help but sigh in admiration.
Of course, he knew that dragons possessed extremely high magic resistance, enough to shrug off most spells entirely, and that only Dragon Slayer Magic could truly inflict real damage on them.
But only by facing one head-on, only by using magic directly in battle against one, could he truly understand the despair of those mages from the ancient age when dragons ruled the world.
Without Dragon Slayer Magic, dragon rule would probably have been almost impossible to overthrow.
"But luckily, I'm not a pure mage."
Though he inwardly marveled at the "Black Dragon's" blatantly broken magic resistance, Marco was not all that panicked, because he, too, was playing with cheats!
"If magic won't work, then taste the power of Cosmo!"
Marco's figure flashed, and he appeared directly on the "Black Dragon's" back.
Then he drove his fist straight into the dragon's body.
With control over Teleportation, fighting gigantic monsters like this did come with certain advantages.
For example, just like now, the monster might not be able to react in time.
BOOM!!!
Marco's punch smashed into the "Black Dragon" solidly, sending it crashing down toward the ground.
But Marco did not look especially happy, because the "Black Dragon's" body was just as monstrously tough.
The scales on its back were exceptionally thick, so the damage from that punch was probably limited.
Still, at the very least, it had done more than magic had.
